Upoma Mahbub is the Senior Manager, Advocacy of the Ultra-Poor Graduation programme at BRAC. She leads national advocacy and supports BRAC’s global advocacy effort in expanding the Graduation approach globally to address the poverty agenda. Ms Mahbub brings more than 10 years of experience in Advocacy, Networking, Communication, Knowledge management, publication etc. in the field of poverty eradication and inclusive growth.

Previously, Upoma Mahbub worked as Manager, Global Learning and Collaboration, and also as Manager, Global Advocacy of the Ultra Poor Graduation Initiative of BRAC USA. She also worked at  NGO Forum for Public Health and WAVE Foundation, and served at two national level prominent newspapers as a feature writer and sub-editor. In her personal life, she is a columnist & writes on development and social issues.

Upoma Mahbub has obtained graduation and post-graduation from the Department of International Relations, University of Dhaka upholding 1st class in the M.S.S examination. She also obtained 7th position (Humanities group) and 2nd position (Humanities group) in the merit list of H.S.C and S.S.C examination from Chittagong Board.

 

Historicizing BRAC

Historicizing BRAC is an ambitious project that aims to meticulously document BRAC's approach to development, growth trajectory, and critical inflection points through historical accounts of the organization's major development programs. It is an investigation and attempt to theorize BRAC’s navigation as well as sustainability within the context of changing socio-economic and political realities.
