Upashana Salam is a Senior Communications Manager at the BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), BRAC University.
Upashana’s last appointment was as a Senior Manager of Marketing, Communication, and Knowledge Management at Bangladesh Youth Leadership Center (BYLC). Previously, she worked at BRAC Institute of Education Development (BIED) as a team lead of the Communications team. In the past, she worked as a journalist for nearly six years, working at reputable news outlets such as The Daily Star and The Independent, Bangladesh. She was selected by the Foreign Press Centre of the US State Department to participate in the final reporting tour of the 2012 US elections. She has cultivated her expertise over the years, encompassing a wide range of skills including creative writing, copyediting, public relations, facilitating design, and effective implementation of communication strategies.
Upashana completed her Bachelor’s in English Literature and Media Studies from BRAC University. .
A functional democracy requires accountable and transparent law enforcement. While the formation of the Police Reform Commission is a welcome first step, similar initiatives were launched in previous years and failed to bring about any meaningful change.
