Tanvir Shatil is a Research Coordinator at BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), BRAC University. 

Tanvir joined BIGD as a Senior Research Associate. Prior to joining BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), Tanvir was involved with different research projects of the Research and Evaluation Division (RED) of BRAC as a Staff Researcher.

Apart from research experience, Tanvir Shatil has one and half year development program oriented experience at SOS Children’s Village international in Bangladesh. Shatil completed his Bachelor of Social Science (BSS) and Master of Social Science (MSS) in Anthropology from Jahangirnagar University, Dhaka. 

His research interest lies in the issues of socio-economic and cultural transformation of peasant society and agricultural technologies, anthropological aspects of social psychology, public health, education, socio-cultural aspects of social media, virtual world and big data, social power structure, gender issues, political economy, good governance and policy, as well as humanitarian crises.

After two successful RFPs, resulting in 12 funded research projects, the WEE-DiFine initiative at the BRAC Institute of Governance and Development launched its third RFP on December 13, 2021.
