Sajal Roy, PhD, is a Visiting Research Fellow at the BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), Brac University.

Dr Roy is an environmental geographer and community services educator. He specializes in Critical Development Studies with geographical concentrations in South Asia, West Africa, Scandinavia, and Australia. Sajal’s research interests centre on intersectionality, livelihood, material well-being, gendered relations, refugee crisis management, non-economic loss and damage (of climate change), post-disaster recovery, and disaster epidemiology. He is an advanced early career researcher with international exposure to global research opportunities and teaching and demonstrated excellence in preparing, delivering, and supervising lectures and research work. He possesses specializations in interdisciplinary studies, particularly business, society, and policy, rural development, women and gender, development, disaster risk management, and other corollary fields.

He received his PhD in Climate Change Social Services from the Western Sydney University.
