Dr. Purnamita Dasgupta is Chair Professor in Environmental and Resource Economics at the Institute of Economic Growth in Delhi, India. She has been Visiting Professor at the University of Cambridge and Johns Hopkins University. Her recent research focuses on modelling socio-economic scenarios for India’s National Communications and GHG emissions for Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC), choice experiments for transition to clean energy use, and economic evaluations of climate change impacts and adaptation. Her research has received support from various organizations, including the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Finance Commissions, Ministry of Urban Development, and UNDP. She has been author/advisor to international research assessments such as the International Panel on Social Progress and has been a member of several environment-related committees set up by the Government of India – legislation on electronic waste, Supreme Court committee on NPV for forests, Expert committee to evolve environmental standards. Purnamita holds a Ph.D. from Jawaharlal Nehru University.
