Nadine Shaanta Murshid, PhD

Visiting Research Fellow

 Nadine Shaanta Murshid, PhD, has joined BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), BRAC University as a Visiting Research Fellow.

An associate professor at the University at Buffalo School of Social Work, Dr. Murshid employs an interdisciplinary lens — bridging social work, migration studies, and transnational feminism—to investigate how systemic inequalities and institutions perpetuate violence. Her recent book, Intimacies of Violence: Reading Transnational Middle-Class Women in Bangladeshi America, explores how violence is produced in institutional and everyday spaces from immigration systems to criminal legal systems to the home.

Dr. Murshid completed her PhD in Social Work from Rutgers University (2013), MPP in Public Policy from the Australian National University in 2006, and BBA from James Madison University in 2003.
