H.E. Mr. M. A. Mannan is the Minister of Planning in Bangladesh, known for a distinguished career in the public sector. He held roles such as Deputy Commissioner in various districts, Director General of the Prime Minister’s office, and served as an Economic Minister in the Bangladesh Permanent Mission in Geneva. He later joined the Bangladesh Awami League in 2005 and became a Member of Parliament in 2008. In the 9th Parliament, he chaired the Parliamentary Standing Committee of Public Accounts and was a member of several other key committees. He also served on the Central Executive Committee of the Bangladesh Awami League. Returning as a Member of Parliament for a second term, M. A. Mannan was appointed as the State Minister of Finance in Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Cabinet in 2014.
