Farzin Mumtahena is a Research Associate at the BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), Brac University.  

Prior to this, she completed the Young Researchers’ Fellowship 2023/24 in the quantitative stream. She has also done a research fellowship under the Gender Gap in Financial Inclusion (GGiFI) project funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Farzin has previously worked as a research intern at BIGD in the Economic Cluster, and later as an intern at Aspire to Innovate (a2i). She has presented papers at multiple international conferences and has won the ‘Best Paper’ award under the Human Development theme at the 18th South Asian Economics Students’ Meet in Nepal. During her undergraduate years, Farzin served as the General Secretary of the Economics Study Center, DU. Her research interests primarily revolve around development issues, with a focus on education, gender, poverty, inequality, and intergenerational mobility.

She holds MSS and BSS degrees in Economics from the University of Dhaka.
