Farhana Kabir

Research Associate

Farhana Kabir joined BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), BRAC University as a Research Associate in the Economic Cluster. She has recently completed the ‘Young Researchers’ Fellowship (YRF) program’ of BIGD, where she received experiential training on advanced quantitative research methods. She developed a passion for research very early in her undergraduate years, propelling her to participate in national and international competitions and conferences. Prior to joining BIGD, she worked as a Research Officer at the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS). She published her first paper and presented internationally during that time. She participated in the 14th and 15th editions of the South Asian Economics Students Meet (SAESM) and won the ‘Best Economic Paper’ accolade on both occasions. She also won the ‘Best Speaker Award’ in the individual presentation competition of the 15th edition held in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Farhana completed her Master’s and Bachelor’s in Economics from the University of Dhaka. She is fascinated with the mechanisms and intricacies of Behavioral Economics. She is inspired to explore the implications of behavioral interventions in generating social change, especially through influencing individual decision-making for the greater good. She aspires to conduct research that directly impacts people’s lives for the better. She will be working under the supervision of Dr. Narayan C. Das, Sr. Research Fellow, BIGD.
