Anika Haque, PhD is joining BIGD as a Visiting Research Fellow.
Dr. Haque is a climate change expert working at the intersection of climate change adaptation, resilience, and development. Her work is defined by over 15 years of empirical research focusing on urban environments across the Global South, including South Asia, Africa, and Latin America. She was the lead author for the UCCCRN third global assessment report on cities and climate change, and also the Internal Reviewer for the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report for Climate Change and the IPCC special report on Climate Change and cities.
Her research excellence has earned several prestigious accolades, including the AXA IM Research Award for her transformative contributions to the field of climate change which marks her as the first global South scholar to receive this honor.
Dr. Haque completed her PhD (in Geography) from the University of Cambridge and is currently working as an Associate Professor of Human Geography and Environment at the University of York.
