Umma Kulsum Kusum

Umma Kulsum Kusum is a Programme Associate at the BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD). 

Kusum started her career in the government’s primary education sector in 2012. Before joining BIGD, she worked as an experimental school teacher at The Primary Teachers Training Institute (PTI) under the Directorate of Primary Education, Ministry of Primary and Mass Education.

She completed her M.Sc. and B.Sc. in Zoology from the National University of Bangladesh. She is pursuing her MBA at Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP). 

Jibon Chandra Mali

Jibon Chandra Mali has joined the BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD) as a Lab Assistant. 

Jibon began his IT career at the Sufia Cotton Mills Limited, where he gained significant experience in networking, ERP management, and IT operations. 

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Daffodil International University. 

A M M Fazlur Rashid

A M M Fazlur Rashid is a Visiting Fellow of Practice at the BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), BRAC University. His research interests lie at the intersection of SME development, sustainable practices, and innovative solutions for climate adaptation.

Trained in marketing, Fazlur Rashid specializes in small and medium enterprise (SME) growth with a focus on profitability and sustainability. With over 21 years of professional experience in distribution, sales, and marketing across the electric, electronics, paints, and telecom industries in Bangladesh, he brings a wealth of practical expertise to his work in promoting sustainable technologies through social business models.

Passionate about empowering small and medium entrepreneurs, Fazlur Rashid also explores innovative climate-smart solutions in energy, agriculture, and waste management. In addition to his professional achievements, he is the translator of Sun Tzu’s Art of War (Bengali, 2017) and Art of War in Everyday English (2019), both available on Amazon in print and Kindle.

 

Rupok Chowdhury

Rupok Chowdhury has joined the BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD) as a Data Associate.

Rupok began his research career at the ARCED Foundation in 2022. Additionally, he has published research in peer-reviewed journals, focusing on topics such as public health and economic growth.

Rupok holds an M.Sc. in Applied Economics with a major in Econometrics from BRAC University, and a Bachelor in Economics from Khulna University.

Swapnil Roy

Swapnil Roy has joined BIGD as a Data Associate.

Swapnil started his research career at the ARCED Foundation in 2022, Following this, he was a Research Assistant at Evaluation and Consulting Services Ltd. (ECONS) for nearly two years, contributing to various high-impact social research projects. His writings have also been published in peer-reviewed journals.

Swapnil completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s in Applied Statistics and Data Science from the University of Dhaka.

Md. Sabbir Hossain

Md. Sabbir Hossain Muni has joined the BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), Brac University, as a Data Associate.

Sabbir graduated from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) with a bachelor’s degree in urban and regional planning. He is currently pursuing his Master’s in Data Science at BUET’s Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE).

Zarif Bin Islam

Zarif Bin Islam has joined the BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD) as a Senior Programme Associate.

Zarif began his career at Beximco in 2017. His last appointment was as an Executive at Everest Pharmaceuticals Ltd. He also worked as an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of South Asia.

Zarif completed his MBA in Marketing and Entrepreneurship from BRAC University and B.Sc in Pharmaceutical Sciences from North South University.

Shudipto Rawshan Ahmed

Shudipto Rawshan Ahmed has Joined BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), BRAC University, as a Communications Associate. 

His last appointment was as an intern at the Social  Innovation Lab (SIL), BRAC. Aside from his work with BRAC, Shudipto is a passionate debater and debate coach and has worked at Leaders Academy in South Korea, as a co-director of their middle school debate programme. 

Shudipto completed his Masters in Economics from the University of Dhaka. 

Tasin Rashid

Tasin Rashid has joined the BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), BRAC University, as a Research Associate. 

Tasin completed the Young Researchers’ Fellowship at BIGD in the qualitative stream. Previously, he served as a Research Assistant on a UNFPA-funded project. 

Tasin completed his Bachelor’s in Women and Gender Studies and is nearing the completion of his master’s in the same field from the University of Dhaka.

Md. Rakibul Mobin

Md. Rakibul Mobin has joined the BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), BRAC University, as a Trainee Research Associate under the Young Researchers Fellowship (YRF) program. 

Previously, he worked as a Research Intern at the South Asian Network on Economic Modeling (SANEM), and as a content writer for several organizations. 

Rakibul completed his Bachelor’s from the Department of Economics, University of Dhaka.
