Maliha Zabin has joined BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), BRAC University, as a Trainee Research Associate under the Young Researchers’ Fellowship program.
She has completed her Bachelor’s in Economics from the University of Dhaka. Her last appointment was as a Research Intern at BIGD.
Arghya Bhuiyan has joined BIGD as a Trainee Research Assistant (TRA) in the Young Researchers’ Fellowship (YRF) 2025 cohort.
Before joining BIGD, Arghya worked as a Research Assistant at the Department of Economics, Jahangirnagar University.
Arghya completed his Master’s and Bachelor’s in Economics from Jahangirnagar University.
Md. Aiyob Ali has joined BIGD as a Trainee Research Associate in the Young Researchers’ Fellowship (YRF) 2025 cohort.
Aiyob completed his Master’s and Bachelor’s in Economics from the University of Chittagong.
Shamima Akther Lithi has joined BIGD as a Research Associate.
Previously, Lithi worked as a Research Assistant with UNFPA and the International Rescue Committee (IRC), and as a Bridge Intern with the Global Resource Mobilisation and Partnerships (GRP) at BRAC. She also brings professional experience in content creation and digital communication, having served as a social media moderator bdnews24.com.
Lithi completed her Master’s and Bachelor’s in Women and Gender Studies from the University of Dhaka.
Tahrima Binte Tarique has joined BIGD as a Senior Research Associate.
Throughout her career, she has worked in various capacities contributing to projects on climate-resilient livelihoods, refugee rights, gender and reproductive health rights during humanitarian crises, and global campaigns for gender equality.
Tahrima holds an MSc from Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam, with a specialization in Democracy, Power, and Inequality. She was also a recipient of the Orange Knowledge Programme (OKP) scholarship, awarded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for her academic excellence and leadership potential.
Md. Foysoul Hossain Khan has joined BIGD as Senior Officer, Finance and Accounts.
Before joining BIGD, he worked in various finance and compliance roles at icddr,b, MSH, Educo, Practical Action Consulting, COAST Trust, IDCOL, and US-Bangla Group.
He completed an MBS and a BBS in Accounting from Jagannath University. He also completed the Chartered Accountancy Course (CA-CC) from Hoda Vasi Chowdhury & Co
Farzana Sehrin has joined BIGD as a Research Coordinator.
Sehrin brings over a decade of experience in research and impact evaluation, with a strong background in quantitative data analysis and econometric modeling. Before joining BIGD, she served as a Research Fellow at the Centre of Excellence for Urban Equity and Health at BRAC James P Grant School of Public Health (JPGSPH), BRAC University. She also held positions as Senior Research Associate at BRAC’s Research and Evaluation Division and Research Associate at the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD).
Her research portfolio spans diverse areas including poverty and inequality measurement, urban health systems, social protection, early childhood development, and livelihoods. She currently works as the Principal Investigator for projects such as “Level of Small Area Poverty and Urban Health: Estimation, Validation, and Visualization with Ground Level Data”, and has been a key collaborator on studies funded by NIHR, the Wellcome Trust, and leading academic institutions including the University of York, the University of Leeds, and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
Sehrin holds both her BSc and MSc in Economics from Jahangirnagar University. Her work has been published in reputed journals such. She is passionate about using rigorous quantitative evidence to inform policy on health equity, poverty reduction, and inclusive urban development.
Tanvir Aynan has joined BIGD as an Officer in the Finance & Accounts department.
Tanvir has hands-on experience in accounting operations, financial reporting, and data analysis. Before joining BIGD, he worked as an Executive in the Finance and Accounts team at 10 Minute School.
Tanvir holds an MBA from the Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) and a BBA from East West University.
Shirsha Songshoptak has joined BIGD as a Senior Research Associate.
Shirsha has worked in multiple RCTs tackling pollution and climate related issues such as air pollution, its impacts and people’s willingness to adopt defensive interventions to protect themselves. He also has experience in project management tasks such as budget management, donor reporting, preparation of reports, blogs and other deliverables. He completed his Bachelor’s in urban planning from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).
Atiya Rahman has joined BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD) as a Research Fellow.
Atiya started her research career as a Research Associate at the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD). Subsequently, she joined the Research and Evaluation Division (RED), BRAC. Her last appointment was at BIGD. During her career, Atiya has been involved with designing and implementing evaluation research projects on diverse development issues, including poverty, skill development and urban development.
She holds a Master’s in Development Economics from the University of East Anglia (UEA) and is currently pursuing a PhD at the same university.
