Based on the survey titled “The State of Bangladesh’s Political Governance, Development and Society,” jointly conducted by The Asia Foundation (TAF), Bangladesh, and the BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), Brac University, this study sheds light on Bangladeshi citizens’ perceptions regarding the political, economic, and social atmosphere of the country. The survey collected data from 10,240 adult men and women, across all 64 districts, during the period between November 2022 and January 2023.
Findings revealed that 58% of respondents believed that Bangladesh was heading in the right direction socially, while 39% held the opposite view. The lowest percentage was recorded for economic direction, with merely 25% of respondents expressing belief in the country’s positive trajectory. The survey identified several significant issues faced by respondents, including price hikes, business downturns, unemployment, corruption, and political instability.
