This article delves into the challenges of implementing the Domestic Violence (Prevention and Protection) Act 2010 in Bangladesh, highlighting the discrepancy between its formulation and execution. Through interviews with stakeholders, it uncovers prevailing gender norms that trivialize domestic violence, leading to its deprioritization by service providers. The study examines deliberate inaction strategies by backlash proponents and counter-strategies by advocates, aiming to enhance the Act’s effectiveness in safeguarding women’s rights to life, dignity, and bodily integrity.
