Environmental Assessment Guidelines For BRAC’s Rural Development Program

This document provides guidelines, at both the general program level and specific sector level, for incorporating environmental protection considerations into BRAC’s Rural Development Program (RDP) natural resource projects, namely fisheries, sericulture, agriculture, poultry and livestock, and forestry.  It will provide BRAC managers with the necessary information to ensure that existing and future programs are designed and implemented in such a way as to minimize the negative environmental impacts, while still allowing for income-generation.  The ultimate purpose is to create BRAC activities for the rural poor that are positive overall and sustainable in the long-term.
