Empowering Female Domestic Workers Through Digital Finance

Despite the rapid expansion of digital financial services in Bangladesh, women’s participation in formal financial systems remains limited, particularly among low-income urban populations. This study explores whether the digital transfer of wages through mobile money platforms can enhance the economic empowerment of poor urban women employed as domestic workers. Drawing on survey data collected from HelloTask workers, the paper examines how receiving wages via mobile money influences women’s financial control, decision-making power, and participation in household economic activities.
