This working paper explores how digital financial services (DFS) impact the economic empowerment of women domestic workers in Southwest Nigeria. Through qualitative interviews with 40 women domestic workers, the study identifies key themes of financial security, privacy, and agency as pathways to empowerment enabled by DFS. The paper highlights the critical role of mobile phone ownership in facilitating access to and use of DFS among this marginalized group. It contributes insights on how DFS can enhance financial autonomy and decision-making power for vulnerable women workers.
