Social and gender norms constrain young women’s voice and agency in response to sexual harassment in agro-processing firms and domestic work. The research findings show how important it is to have effective workplace policies and practices to support the voice and capacity development of female workers so they can lodge complaints to their employers and approach institutional actors such as the police. Improving safeguarding measures and strengthening young women’s civic and political capacities are essential for negotiating safety at work. These are currently ignored by employment and private sector interventions.
