COVID-19 has left the world and its economy in shambles. The Bangladeshi government, along with the rest of the world, are tackling an issue they had not expected to see in their lifetime. Academics are following the trends of the pandemic while governments, NGOs, and medical practitioners working on the frontlines to overcome this issue. BIGD’s Research, Policy and Governance (RPG) team decided to bring all four platforms together for a short course – to allow interaction and hopefully a spillover of knowledge. BIGD organized a short course for both the public and private sector employees on Pandemics and Public Policy to provide an overview of the challenges regarding applications of public policy in the context of a pandemic. In particular, it was intended to assist senior decision-makers in updating their knowledge and enhancing their skills to make appropriate policy responses to COVID-19, based on the existing and emerging concepts, practices and experiences of Bangladesh and other countries. The course had been designed keeping in mind senior government officials from both policy and implementation arenas as well as appropriate persons from relevant NGOs, CSOs and the private sector.
