In solidarity with International Workers Day 2021, BIGD paid homage to the history, culture, activism, and research around the labour movement. We delved into a brief history of the movement in the Bengal region set against the current scenario in Bangladesh, followed by presentations on accountability through visual evidence as experienced in the Rana Plaza incident, and on BIGD’s work in capacity building for trade unions. The discussions were enriched with musical performances and poetry recitation by fellow BIGDians.
