The Electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) system in Bangladesh has reduced around 1.53 lakh tonnes of possible emission of carbon, a top official of the planning ministry said today. Mohammed Shoheler Rahman Chowdhury, director general of Central Procurement Technical Unit (CPTU), in a meeting, said the e-GP system has saved the stakeholders’ travel time equivalent to nearly 50 crore kilometres. He said the Cambridge University and World Bank conducted a study last year on how the e-GP system saves possible carbon emissions through a scientific calculation.
