
Sami’s story is emblematic of the millions of persons with disabilities (PWDs) in rural Bangladesh who face systemic exclusion despite the country’s development strides. Although PWDs constitute over 7% of the population, they remain marginalized in economic, educational, and healthcare systems, which hinders their full social participation. For Bangladesh to achieve sustainable development, including the UN’s SDGs, disability inclusion must take centre stage.
