The Chandler Institute of Governance (CIG) and the BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 6 July 2021. The MOU establishes a partnership between both organisations to drive collaboration in designing and delivering innovative capacity building initiatives, the joint development of knowledge products, and communities of practice for public officers in Asia.
BIGD is a regional centre of excellence for governance, development and policy research at BRAC University based in Bangladesh.
The signing ceremony was held virtually due to the COVID-19 global crisis, and the MOU was signed by Dr Imran Matin, Executive Director of BIGD; and Mr Wu Wei Neng, Executive Director of CIG.
“BIGD is committed to enhancing the capabilities of public officials with one of the best Masters programs in Bangladesh with a goal of making our students effective agents of change. In 2020 we have renewed this ambition by reviewing and upgrading our Masters in Governance and Development program. This partnership with CIG is timely and extremely important for a more impactful effort in the region.”
Dr Imran Matin
Executive Director of BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD)
Mr Wu Wei Neng, Executive Director of CIG, also expressed CIG’s strong support for the partnership between both organisations:
“CIG is a non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting governments and public officers in the important work they do. Both organisations share a common goal in strengthening public leadership and public service delivery. As a centre for research on policy and development interventions, BIGD will be a valuable partner in our collaboration.”
