BIGD oversees BRAC International’s Independent Research and Evaluation Cell (IERC), which works in ten countries across Asia and Africa. BIGD also hosts the Country Office of the International Growth Centre (IGC), London School of Economics (LSE).


Position Summary
BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), based at Brac University in Dhaka, Bangladesh, seeks a Senior Officer – Accounts who is primarily responsible for maintaining and managing day-to-day operational activities related to Finance and Accounts and keeping all kinds of Books of Accounts of BIGD as per policies and guidelines.


Job Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the preparation of financial proposals for various donors, Quarterly Project Financial Reports, Project Budget Variance Reports, and other Donors’ Reports.
  • Preparations of budget for various projects and keeping track of the utilization of such funds as per financial regulations followed by BIGD. 
  • Making project expense update. Checking/ revising accounting software and making necessary corrections.   
  • Peer checking of payments against all kinds of vouchers, and booking of those expenses under the appropriate project Head of Account.
  • Regular posting and updating in accounting software and monthly reconciliation of every transaction, both bank and cash, after posting in software.
  • Keeping vouchers, documents, and records properly and safely.
  • Maintain day-to-day Banking operation, Cheque/EFT preparation, and disbursement accurately, and posting to software. Preparing monthly bank reconciliation statements.
  • Coordinate with the external and internal audit team. 
  • Time to time donor reporting, reconciliation of donor reports with project accounts and coordination with program people to update on project activity and financial impact;
  • Provide closing adjustment entries/Journal Vouchers monthly, quarterly, and annually.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements;
  • Liaison with Banks/NBFI for day-to-day operations.
  • Any other function may be assigned by the supervisors.


Qualifications, Experience, and Required Skillset:

  • MBA major in Accounting/Finance or Master’s in Accounting from any reputed university
  • CA Knowledge level passed under supervision of a reputed CA Firm. 
  • Requirements may be waived for candidates having high academic credentials. 


Other requirements:

  •  2-3 years’ relevant experience is preferable.
  • Good interpersonal skills and relationships with others and communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office.
  • Strong sense of managing work on time
