Position Summary: The BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), Brac University, is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Senior/Communications Associate to join its dynamic Communications and Knowledge Management team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary environment, enhancing the quality of BIGD’s publications, website content, communication materials, and digital content.

The role requires a strong command of the English language, attention to detail, and creative writing skills to effectively communicate the work done by BIGD to a larger audience. Apart from developing and sharing content, the Senior/Communications Associate will be responsible for running BIGD’s social media channels; maintaining BIGD’s website; and effectively showcasing the institute’s impact through photo and video content.

About BIGD: By influencing policy and practice through rigorous research and quality academic programs, BIGD aims to promote innovation in governance and development processes toward a more just and prosperous society. Partnering with academics around the world, BIGD conducts multi-methods research on governance and development issues in close collaboration with several crucial departments of the Government of Bangladesh, large non-profits such as BRAC, and international organizations such as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. BIGD oversees BRAC International’s Independent Research and Evaluation Cell (IERC), which works in ten countries across Asia and Africa. BIGD also hosts the Country Office of the International Growth Centre (IGC), London School of Economics (LSE); and the ED of BIGD heads the IGC Country Office.


The primary responsibilities of the position include:

  • Developing and implementing the institute’s social media strategy in collaboration with the Communications team
  • Managing BIGD’s social media and creating posts for different platforms, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.
  • Creating and implementing a social media calendar by coordinating with relevant departments of the institute
  • Developing and managing website content
  • Developing written content, including blogs, event reports, and articles
  • Ensuring consistent messaging across the departments so that they align with the institute’s branding standards
  • Coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to implement communications goals and strategies

Skills and Qualifications:


To qualify for the position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or a related field
  • Proven experience in communications, social media management, and/or website management
  • Strong writing and content management skills, with a keen eye for detail
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills

Preferable skills

Knowledge of research, governance, development communications, and graphic design will be an advantage.

Job Nature, Reporting, and Base: This is a full-time, contractual position. The position will report to the Director, Operations, Strategy and Partnership, BIGD and will be based in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
