BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), based at BRAC University, seeks a Copy Editor (CE) for the Women’s Economic Empowerment and Digital Finance (WEE-DiFine) initiative. The CE, under the supervision of the Initiative Director and the Head of Communications, will assist the WEE-DiFine team with the editing of written technical content. A successful candidate will have a strong writing and editing background with professional experience as a copy editor. Familiarity with rigorous quantitative and qualitative research would be a strong advantage. This is a part-time and remote position.

BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), Brac University, is a Bangladesh-based social science research and academic institute, dedicated to generating and sharing knowledge through education, research, and public and policy engagement in equitable partnerships with national and global actors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the WEE-DiFine team in providing editorial feedback on blogs, reports, policy briefs, and working papers.
  • Support in the process of formatting, copy-editing, and formalizing written pieces for publication.
    (Depending on background)
  • Synthesize project results into clear findings and policy implications for a general reader.

Job Nature

This will be a flexible, remote job.

Qualifications

  • Advanced academic degree in English, Linguistics, Journalism, Economics, Development Studies, Public Policy, or a related discipline
  • Exceptional English writing skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • At least two years experience as a professional editor
  • (Preferred) Ability to understand academic research and synthesize findings into a clear and accurate narrative for a lay reader
  • (Preferred) Ability to understand and communicate how rigorous research can influence policy decisions
  • Willingness to work hard, be self-motivated, learn, and adapt quickly
  • Willingness to work with individuals located in different time zones
