On 12 March 2026, BIGD hosted a workshop on cellphone photography led by Nusrat Jahan, Head of Communications and Initiative Director. The session introduced participants to the basics of taking stronger photographs with a mobile phone, covering framing, angles, lighting, subject, focus, and composition.
The workshop encouraged participants to think beyond the technical side of photography and to reflect on how everyday images can be shaped more intentionally. Through discussion and examples, the session highlighted how small changes in perspective, attention, and visual choices can influence a photograph’s clarity, mood, and impact, while also opening new possibilities for visual storytelling in research communications through everyday devices.
