National Workshop on “Sustaining pathway out of Poverty-Integrated Market System Development”

World Vision’s Nobo Jatra in partnership with BIGD, BRAC University and Overseas Development Institute (ODI) conducted research investigating sustainable pathways to address poverty in South West Bangladesh, evaluating the role of access to finance in empowering women.

To disseminate the findings of that research, the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief and World Vision Bangladesh jointly hosted a lessons-learned workshop on “Sustaining pathway out of Poverty-Integrated Market System Development” on November 7 at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon. Disaster Management and Relief Secretary Md Kamrul Hasan attended the workshop as the chief guest.

Dr Rohini Kamal, Research Fellow, BIGD attended the session as a panellist. She said, “High-tech measures are unlikely to have any relevance to the most vulnerable unless we can strengthen the methods by which the most vulnerable can have access to and participate in the solutions. The study finds that layering the UPG program can help fill this gap.”
