Divisional Workshop: Citizen Engagement in Public Procurement

Under the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED), BIGD and the Central Procurement Technical Unit (CPTU) administered a project titled “Digitizing Implementation Monitoring and Public Procurement Project (DIMAPPP)” to perform the duty of “citizen engagement” consultant. Through this project, BIGD aims to improve transparency, accountability, and efficiency in public procurement by allowing multi-stakeholder engagement with the formulation of implementable strategies and active field-level involvement by the participation of civil society and youth groups.

BIGD held the first Divisional Workshop of the Digitizing Implementation Monitoring and Public Procurement Project (DIMAPPP) on “Citizen Engagement in Public Procurement”.

Notable guests at the event included Abul Mansur Md Foyezullah, NDC, Secretary, IME Division, Planning Ministry; Shish Haider Chowdhury, Director, Coordination and Training, CPTU, IME Division, Planning Ministry; Md Ali Noor, Additional Secretary, CPTU, IME Division, Planning Ministry; Zakir Hossain, Divisional Commissioner, Rangpur; and Syed Enamul Kabir, District Commissioner, Rangpur.

The workshop was organized to promote social accountability by institutionalizing citizen and multi-stakeholder engagement, with the objective of gathering stakeholders from diverse state, level, and age, including beneficiary, government officials, civil society, engineers, doctors, teachers, members of non-government organizations (NGOs), and media personnel who will unite to encourage multi-stakeholder engagement and establishment of systematic framework during public procurement.
