What does good childcare look like, and what does it take to make home-based childcare work for children, mothers, and caregivers?
BIGD and BRAC IED partnered to bring researchers, practitioners, and policymakers together for “Evidence to Action: Home-Based Childcare, Women’s Work, and Early Childhood Development in Bangladesh.” The dissemination event presented endline findings from a randomized evaluation of home-based childcare, examining its impact on child development, its potential as a business and livelihood opportunity, and the challenges and opportunities for taking the model to scale.
The event featured presentations on the “Home-Based Childcare Model” and “Childcare as a Business,” followed by open-floor discussions. A strategic panel on the future of scaling home-based childcare facilitated perspectives from BRAC IED, PKSF, icddr,b, and the World Bank, exploring pathways to expand access to quality childcare in Bangladesh.
