Led by BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD) and funded by the Gates Foundation, this program examines how quality childcare and financial inclusion can strengthen women’s economic empowerment. It generates evidence to improve childcare delivery, affordability, and women’s access to savings and credit, supporting scalable and sustainable interventions.
DIIR is BIGD’s integrated unit for digital intelligence and implementation research. Its purpose is to generate rigorous and actionable evidence using the best mix of data sources and methods, combining advanced analytics with learning-oriented evaluation approaches to support evidence-informed decision-making, adaptation, and program improvement, built on BIGD’s deep field data collection expertise.
The Learning and Innovation Laboratory (LILA), a joint initiative of BRAC’s Poverty Alleviation Cluster and BIGD, BRAC University, will pilot in six Satkhira branches. Through participatory research, adaptive learning, and community engagement, LILA aims to generate evidence and scalable, context-sensitive solutions for sustainable community-driven development.
BIGD Mathkendro, located in Patkelghata, Shatkhira, is a field center dedicated to localized knowledge generation, rigorous learning, and context-driven research. Through close engagement with communities, it advances climate change adaptation, last-mile state effectiveness, and capacity building, generating practical evidence to support better public outcomes and informed decision-making.
The Data and Innovation Research Program advances data-driven policymaking by improving how data is collected, integrated, and used. Combining survey, spatial, and administrative data with innovative methods, the program generates actionable insights, strengthens evidence-based decision-making, and develops accessible data platforms to support research, governance, and sustainable development in Bangladesh.
