BIGD's Partnership with BRAC-LSE: BLUE - Innovating Growth Strategies for Poverty and Climate Crisis

BLUE is a new partnership between BRAC and researchers at the LSE, dedicated to creating innovative solutions to climate change and poverty through research and policy. This new initiative called BLUE will focus on ideas, innovations, and evidence to make growth work for the twin crisis of poverty and climate. In comparison to its earlier iterations, the revised UPG programme is expected to be more cost-effective and adept at addressing the evolving nature of poverty in Bangladesh. BIGD and the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) has launched a new initiative in Bangladesh titled “The Covid-19 Learning, Evidence and Research Programme (CLEAR)” with the support of UK Government’s Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). It aims to build a consortium of research partners to deliver policy-relevant Covid-19 research and evidence for Bangladesh, support increased evidence uptake among policymakers and share lessons from the Covid-19 response to better prepare for future shocks.

BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), BRAC University have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) for creating a collaboration to use high-quality research to support evidence-informed development solutions in Bangladesh. IPA and BIGD will jointly design research initiatives, raise resources, and pursue an institutional strengthening program. The two organisation will also explore fundraising opportunities for new research initiatives in areas of common interest to better attract researchers from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
