The Masters in Procurement and Supply Chain (MPSM) at BRAC University develops highly competent procurement and supply chain management professionals of international standards to meet the demands of the 21st century.
Procurement and supply management is a crucial function for any organization, and the demand for highly-skilled procurement and supply professionals is increasing to meet the needs of our growing economy.
The Masters in Procurement and Supply Management (MPSM) at BIGD is a 48-credit program, offered since 2012, which was specially designed to meet this need by developing qualified professionals capable of effectively managing the complex function of procurement and supply management across public and private sectors in Bangladesh and beyond.
The program is structured into two streams - Capstone and Thesis. The first stream consists of foundation, core and elective courses and finishes off with a capstone integrative course. The thesis stream has the same structure but finished off with a dissertation after a non-credit research methodology course.
The foundation courses are designed to build a solid understanding of the fundamental concepts of procurement and supply—planning, sourcing, negotiating, measuring performance, and managing relationships. The core courses focus on developing management and leadership skills relevant to procurement and supply such as strategic management, risk management, change management, and performance improvement. The elective courses allow students to pursue their specific interest areas. The capstone course offers an opportunity to students to apply their learning to a real-world situation.
BIGD will help build a solid theoretical grounding, anchored with real-world learning, on diverse development concepts and issues, empowering students to effectively analyze and approach the increasingly complex, interdependent development challenges using a multidisciplinary framework. Only BIGD equips students with the necessary research and analytical skills for designing high-impact policies and programs as well as monitoring and evaluating development interventions to find what works.
The MPSM program is best suited for procurement and supply chain professionals in the early stages of their careers, who are looking to enhance their knowledge and skills and advance professionally. However, this program is also appropriate for fresh graduates who want to prepare for a first professional role and future career in the field. MPSM is also ideal for young professionals who want to change their career to procurement and supply.
Procurement and supply management is an expertise relevant to any organization; skilled professionals in this field are sought after, particularly by large organizations to manage their complex procurement and supply functions. MPSM helps its already employed students to sharpen their skills and expertise to advance their career. The intensive care ensures that the fresh graduates are also finding employment in a wide range of organizations—private corporations, non-profits, educational institutes, and international organizations.
