Senior/ Communication Associate
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the post of Senior/Communications Associate for BIGD. The Senior/Communications Associate shall work in coordination with Program team and will generally report to program manager or as designated by the project leader. The program is based on Dhaka but will involve frequent field visits.

Job Profile

Under the guidance of the Project Leader and Program Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for planning, developing and implementing communication strategies, activities and materials for the assigned program. S/He will also be responsible for maintaining partnerships with other relevant organizations and to disseminate information and create awareness about specific programmatic output.

The main duty and responsibilities are:

1.     The Communications Associate will work closely with the project’s program section to ensure that relevant communications/program materials are developed and disseminated to donors and target groups through relevant media and network channels.

2.     Maintain close liaison with field offices and partners and prepare regular communication material based on field updates in both Bangla and English.

3.     Draft and edit articles, press releases, success stories and other advocacy/information materials.

4.     Prepare reports to disseminate in popular media in coordination with the program team.

5.     Create and maintain the program specific website and social media sites (Facebook, Twitter and YouTube) such as daily monitoring, posting and content development.

6.     Support organization of workshops, seminars, campaigns, events and project review meetings

7.     Maintain a library of media coverage, clippings etc. S/He will develop and archive communication materials, including digital, such aspublications, press releases and clippings, photographs, audio-visual materials, web resources etc.

8.     Any other programme / project related task as assigned by the institute

Educational Requirements

Masters/ 4 years Bachelor’s Degree in communications, journalism, public relations or a related field.

Experience Requirements

At least five years of similar work experience is required. Candidate should be able to work independently – with minimum supervision and guidance from supervisors. Demonstrated and extensive social media experience is an added advantage.


Job Requirements

Excellent writing skills in both English and Writing

Experience in working with field level partners is desirable.

Job Context

BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD) is a leading research, training and academic institute under BRAC university, Dhaka. It is currently looking for a suitable candidate for the position of Program Manager. The Program Manager will be responsible for the overall coordination, implementation and monitoring of the programs in BIGD. S/He will be reporting to the Executive Director, BIGD and to the Team Leader of this project. The position will be largely based in Dhaka but will require frequent field visits.


Major Responsibilities

·     Serve as the lead executive and main point of contact with therelevant Government agencies,donor and other partners

·        Develop, strengthen and maintain relationships and alliances with key stakeholders, most notably with government and the donor as well as other implementing partners, and with all other partners joined in the network

·        Provide overall guidance, coordinate and collaborate with technical, communication, research and administrative staff to ensure optimal programmatic qualityfor all project activities

·        Assure financial responsibility, budget execution, and timely and adequate monitoring and reporting to the Government, donor partner and BIGD

·        Provide oversight for program monitoring and evaluation

·        Prepare and participate in consultative meetings, strategic events, trainings, conferences and workshops, including preparing and delivering presentations

·        Prepare various written outputs including briefing notes for senior management, annual reports, and financial reports

·        Lead and guide external consultants, interact with government officials and other parties to ensure smooth programme implementation

·        Perform other work-related duties as required/assigned

·        Any other programme / project related task as assigned by the institute.

Educational Requirements

Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in social sciences or other relevant discipline.

Experience Requirements

8-14 years of progressively responsible professional experience. A sizable part of the experience should be in program management, including extensive experience in field level implementation. Experience in large scale program management involving multiple stakeholders is high desirable including experience in program monitoring and evaluation. Working experience with Government agencies and development partners are highly desirable.

Additional Requirements

For the position advertised, fluency in English and Bangla, both in excelled writing and speaking skills are required.
