Although the concept good governance has emerged with a highly intuitive and genuine appeal, the advocated paths to achieve it have come under increased scrutiny and criticism in recent times. Alongside the renewed “good-enough” governance discourse, there is a growing voice whether it is time to explore any “alternative path” to attain good governance.

To attempt to answer some of these vital queries, and to suggest policy options, the Institute of Governance Studies (IGS), BRAC University, in collaboration with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), has organised a roundtable entitled “Alternative Path to Good Governance: Insights for Bangladesh” on 13th February, 2013 at GDLN Conference Room, BRAC University, to share and disseminate the primary research findings from literature reviews and to invite comments from leading experts, academicians and researchers in this field.
