Dr Sultan Hafeez Rahman, Executive Director, BIGD joined the workshop at the post lunch session and greeted the participants and facilitators. He said development communication has emerged as an independent and valued discipline. In order to give visibility to Think Tank Research, combining research communication with perfect channels and tools is very crucial and important. And to achieve the goal, a policy communication strategy will be very helpful to prepare an effective communication set of rules and mixes of channels and tools.

The second day of the workshop was centered on the stakeholder mapping, situational analysis, monitoring and evaluation of PEC plan and measurement of policy change process. The whole workshop was conducted following group/individual sharing and participation methods where a draft BIGD Policy Communication strategy was developed by the participants.

The primary goals of the workshop also included: Gain a shared understanding on policy engagement communication and strategic planning process; analyse capacity to deliver strategic policy engagement and communications activities; develop a policy stakeholder map of BIGD, define best communication means, performance measuring indicators (including context).

Participants and facilitators of the communication workshop were from the Communications and Research Division of BIGD; Public Relations Division of BRAC University; Research and Advocacy Division of Practical Action Bangladesh; and Country Office of International Growth Centre (IGC).
