Chiara Merritt is currently a Visiting Researcher at BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD). She holds an MA in Conflict, Security and Development from King’s College London and a BA in Turkish and Middle Eastern Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS). Since early 2017, she has been working closely with the Urban, Climate Change and Environment (UCCE) cluster at BIGD. Her tasks at the institute primarily include desk-based secondary research, reviewing and editing papers/donor deliverables, assisting in grant applications, writing reports and carrying out independent qualitative research.
Chiara’s previous experience includes working for a management consultancy, a think-tank, and various administrative roles to fund her master’s degree. In addition, she has been working in a freelance capacity since 2016. Her current research interests include human security and migration; specifically South-South forced migration, refugee integration and protracted refugee situations.
