Zeeshan Ashraf has been working in BIGD as Research Associate from May 2017 under the Governance and Politics Cluster. He also co-authored the paper titled-“Tax Evasion in Municipality Finance: Evidence from Bangladesh”. His responsibilities include research assistance, support in data collection, data compilation and data analysis.
Prior to joining BIGD, he worked in Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) as a Research Associate, where he was involved in the first reading of “State of Bangladesh”. During his tenure in CPD, he also worked as a rapporteur in parallel sessions of South Asian Economic Summit (SAES) IX.
Zeeshan completed his Bachelor of Social Science in Economics from BRAC University, where he was recipient of the prestigious Vice Chancellor’s Gold Medal for his academic performance. Subsequently, he received his Master of Arts in Economics from University of Alberta, Canada. Zeeshan’s MA thesis was undertaken on the topic-“Modeling the Effect of Quality of Education on the Economic Growth of a country.”
His fields of research interest include economic growth and development, international trade, political economy and governance issues.
