Faiz Ahmed Chowdhury

Faiz Ahmed Chowdhury is Senior Research Associate at the BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD). He has been working with the institute (former IGS) since November, 2011. He regularly contributes a chapter in BIGD’s flagship publication ‘The State of Governance in Bangladesh’. Currently, he is coordinating a project titled ‘Community of Practice (CoP) on Performance Management in South Asia’ in partnership with the Cabinet Division of the Government of Bangladesh, financed by the World Bank Group. Faiz has also worked with several other think-tanks based in Dhaka, such as - Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), Unnayan Onneshan etc. He has led a number of research projects funded by Christian Aid and IUCN. Faiz completed his second Masters in Public Policy, specialising in politics and international relations from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore. He obtained another Masters in International Relations as well as his Bachelors degree from Jahangirnagar University. Faiz was a recipient of the Lee Kuan Yew Graduate Scholarship in 2014.
His research interests include party and electoral politics, theory and practice of democracy, great powers politics, geopolitics of East Asia and South Asia, and US-China relations. Faiz is also interested in climate change and environmental issues. Faiz has presented his research findings in many international conferences.
