Minhaj Mahmud is a Research Adviser at BIGD. Earlier, he held the position of Head of Research at BIGD from 1 February, 2014 up to 25 February, 2016.
Mr. Mahmud has held various academic and research positions at Queens University, Belfast and Keele University in the United Kingdom, BRAC University, Jahangirnagar University, and Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS).
He has completed his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden in 2005 and MA in Economics from the University of Manitoba, Canada in 1999. He was visiting professor at the University of Tokyo, Japan and Jawaharlal Nehru University, India.
Dr. Mahmud’s research broadly focuses in the areas of behavioural and experimental economics. His research is published in many highly ranked economics journals, including Economics Letters, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, Economica and Health Economics.
He is currently a Visiting Scholar at the JICA Research Institute, Tokyo, and Associate Editor of Journal of Bangladesh Studies.
